How to use Gentaxan
Method of administration and dose.
Gentaxan is used topically. The drug is used throughout the treatment of the wounds until they are completely healed. In the initial stage( 1-5 days), bandages are changed 1-2 times a day, after reducing inflammation, purification of the wound from purulent necrotic masses, the appearance of granulation and epithelization of the wound - 1 time for 1-2 days. Gentaksan is applied to the surface of the wound through a stopper( a hole in a cork), removing the lid, after a thorough surgical treatment, washing the wound with solutions of antiseptics with mandatory subsequent drying, so that it covers the wound surface with a uniform layer( 0.5-1mm).For large lesions, for example, with burns, 8-12 g of the drug may be used once. After the application of Gentaxan, drainage is carried out according to general rules and a bandage is applied. With extensive wound tissue defects, loose tamponing with gauze wipes is allowed. If Gentaxan is partially removed together with the excrements from the wound and the dressing, the wound is dried with gauze tufts and additionally applied in the above single dose without any other manipulation in the wound.
For the treatment of burns Gentaksan is applied to the burnt surface both in the first 5-6 days, and during the sequestration of the burn scab( up to 15 days). In this case, the drug is fixed on the wound with an aseptic bandage. During dressings Gentaksan should be completely removed from the surface of burn wounds with the help of antiseptics or special shampoos for wounds. The use of the drug is possible on any part of the body of the burn patient.
In injuries - when the surgical treatment of the wound can not be performed in full - Gentaksan is covered with a wound at a dose of 0.5-4.0 g, depending on the area of the lesion and the dressing is applied for a time not exceeding 24 hours.
In local application, the preparation does not have a local irritant effect, however, do not let Gentaxan enter the eyes. Gentaxan can be applied to the wound surface only after thorough surgical treatment. The drug prevents the adhesion of bandages and the appearance of pain when they are removed.
Gentaxan can be used in the treatment of children, since it is a preparation of non-systemic application, it acts only superficially and has no resorptive effect.
